Stephen visits with clients regularly and meets with NWSS management staff daily to monitor performance and effectiveness in responding to client needs.
Stephen joined NWSS in 1998 and successfully worked in nearly every operational and management position before becoming president in 2006. In May 2019, Stephen acquired full ownership of NWSS. He is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP). He currently serves on the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Government Affairs and Education Committees. In addition, he is an active member of the Seattle Police Department's West Precinct Security forum, the Hotel Security Alert Network, and member of the Eastside Security Forum.
He also has specialized training in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) and is a Washington State Certified Trainer.
Jeremi Ross joined NWSS in April of 2012 while working on his master's degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati and serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate/Gardian Ad Litem for the Pierce County Juvenile Court.
After completing his master's degree, and while being swiftly promoted up through the NWSS ranks, first as a security officer to patrol officer, then a field supervisor, in late 2013, Jeremi began his pursuit of a Doctorage of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with a focus in Homeland Security at Capella University. While pursuiing his undergraduate degree, Jeremi actively interned with the University of Washington Police Department, participating in campus active shooter and other police training scenarios, and came highly recommended by those who worked with him.
In March 2014, Jeremi was promoted to Director of Human Resources, actively overseeing the training and development of new security officers, as well as leading the development of NWSS continued training initiatives and holding the role of Safety Officer.
In April 2019, Jeremi transitioned to Director of Corporate Services to coincide with his increased responsibilities, providing support to all departments while capitalizing his skills with direct oversight over Human Resources, Accounting and IT operations for the company. Jeremi provides continued oversight and strategic direction support for all company goals.
Jeremi is a Washington State Certified Trainer, completed his SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications, completed the Seattle Police Department Community Police Academy #39, completed the OSHA 511 course, and is a Washington State Patrol trained fingerprint technician.
Kevin leads an operation’s team of managers and supervisors providing quality service to over 300 clients in the Puget Sound Area. Responsibilities include evaluation of operational objectives, development of professional business relationships, logistical support and post order administration. Kevin reports directly to the president and together they meet regularly with clients, vendors and employees to ensure effective performance and adherence to contractual service obligations.
Kevin joined NWSS in 2017 after spending the past 11 years in business and consumer financial management. With a degree in business finance from the University of Phoenix, Kevin brings over 14 years of retail and financial management experience to his position. He holds a strong belief in leading through service and has a track record of leading his teams to best in class service levels across multiple industries.
Outside of the office, Kevin is a grade 8 USSF referee, past president of the Black Diamond Maple Valley Kiwanis Club, and an avid hiker in the great northwest having successfully summited Mount Rainier in June of 2012.
Jim joined NWSS in 2002 as a security officer. In January of 2006, he was promoted to Patrol Officer and then promoted to Field Supervisor in April of 2007. In 2015, he was promoted to Field Operations Manager. He graduated from Shorewood High School and was elected the V.I.C.A. (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America) Club President in his junior and senior years. Jim joined the Boy Scouts of America in 1989, was elected to the Order of the Arrow in 2000, was awarded Eagle Scout in 2002, and still volunteers as an adult leader in a local troop today. He is a Washington State Certified Trainer and a Washington State Patrol trained fingerprint technician.
David Johann joined NWSS in July 2010. He was quickly promoted to patrol officer and then to Patrol Operations Manager in 2011, then Field Operations Manager in June 2012, and transitioned back to Patrol Operations Manager in 2015. David has an extensive background in the security industry, providing excellent service in several positions ranging from security officer, bicycle patrol officer, patrol officer, operations supervisor, account management, V.P of Sales and Marketing, and Assistant Branch Manager in the Seattle Metropolitan area. David has an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies with an emphasis on team dynamics and leadership in the marketplace, and is currently pursuing a degree in Pastoral Counseling. David is a Washington State Certified Trainer and a Washington State Patrol trained fingerprint technician.
Al Barto joined NWSS in March of 2010 and was promoted to site supervisor in April of 2010. He was promoted to Patrol Operations Manager in August of 2010 and Business Development Manager in August of 2011. Al has a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Society and Justice from the University of Washington. Prior to working for NWSS, he spent five years in various management positions with a national bank. Al has also obtained his insurance license and is a notary public.
Shannon started her career in the security industry as a Physical Security Officer in the Chicago Area in 2008. Her subsequent roles included work as a Dispatcher, Squad Driver/First Responder, and a New Officer Trainer.
In May of 2018, Shannon joined the NWSS Management team as Assistant Human Resource Manager, bringing several years of extensive front line physical security and managerial experience to her role. She was promoted to Human Resource Manager soon after, in early 2019. Shannon is primarily tasked with full-cycle recruitment, on-boarding, and training of all new officers, in addition to other tasks that utilize her varied and extensive skillset. She also develops and improves training curriculums and processes, specializing in HR Procurement and Development. She is a Certified Criminal History/RAP Sheet & Fingerprint Technician using LiveScan through the Washington State Patrol, as well as a Certified Trainer for Unarmed Security Officers in the State of Washington. Shannon has a BA in Communication Studies with a minor in Diversity Studies.
Paul Dockendorff formed Northwest Security Services Inc. in 1982. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and served in the Naval Submarine Service.
Before Paul established NWSS, he was employed by general contracting firms as a superintendent with quality control responsibilities including project security. Paul recognized the need for increased security standards and quality control. NWSS was formed from his vision to become the highest quality security provider in the region. As a past president of the Washington State Security Council, Paul was instrumental in the development of the first Washington State Security Guard Licensing Program.
Throughout the years, Paul's enthusiasm and commitment to exceptional security services continue to set us apart from other security providers in the Puget Sound area. In May 2019 Paul sold his interest in the company to Stephen Barger, current president of NWSS.
